I tried telling PowerAlert to run shutdown.bat (directly from C:\Program Files (x86)\TrippLite\PowerAlert\engine), which only has 1 command in it: START C:\UPS\ShutdownStart.bat In fact, the entire batch file itself runs just fine on its own. The plink.exe line can be run directly from CMD and works as expected. Also, no command prompt window displays to show me the output of the script as it's running. I get log files for everything but the system does not shut down or appear to error anywhere else. I set the script up to run a whoami after every command (after removing all ECHO requests). bat file and it is getting hung (or running and failing) at some pointĬan you test with a script that does something like just create a file? For example, create a script that just says:

By default, Windows won't like the PowerAlert Agent service interacting with the desktop.Sendkeys requires interacting with the desktop.I'm in between a few things at the moment (please excuse brevity again), but here is the general rundown of what I think is going on: cmd file didn't run (that's an expected thing on our end) and the. bat files, either.ĮDIT: I don't see anything running/hung in task manager, though. It doesn't even show anything related to the. 11:07:17 Command Execution Error: C:\UPS\ups-stopshutdown.cmd 16:50:54 Command Execution Error: C:\UPS\ups-stopshutdown.cmd
16:50:28 Command Execution Error: C:\UPS\ups-shutdown.cmd If it fails again, get the content of the same log file again.Send me the content of the poweralert.log file at C:\Program Files (x86)\TrippLite\PowerAlert\log.Please excuse brevity, sending from mobile. When I plug it back into AC power, THEN it runs the script. When I go onto battery, and the allotted time runs out (I've tried even instantly), the ups-shutdown.cmd script will not load. The "ups-stopshutdown.cmdd" script sends SendKey commands to the first window to stop it from shutting down. The "ups-shutdown.cmd" script starts a 60sec timer before sending a remote shutdown command. I installed PowerAlert 12.05 and it reads the APC UPS I'm trying now just I tell it to run a script when On doesn't run it. They're identical in on and off scenarios. The UPS I'm using does register as an HID device, and Windows can grab the % off of it. Might be worth a shot if nothing else pans out.

If yes, maybe getting rid of the current UPS monitoring software and using whatever "On Battery" event ID logs for the baked-in Windows Power Management will work better for you? Obviously, this would mean a few adjustments to the script.Īlternatively, you our PowerAlert Local software works with select competitor UPSes (we do not maintain or guarantee support for any specific competitor product though).

Is your UPS HID (specifically HID-PDC) compliant? The easiest way to check is if it shows up as a "Battery" in the System Tray of a Windows PC when connected via USB.

I've tried using Google for things like "CyberPower UPS with ESXi Free", or "Graceful Shutdown ESXi Free with UPS" but haven't found anything useful for a CyberPower UPS setup. Is there an easier way to have Windows detect that it's on battery and run a script? Or is there something I'm doing wrong with my current setup? I need to stop the system from shutting down after it powers back on I need to be able to stop the system from shutting down if power is restored before shutdown is performed.Ģ. So, in essence, I have 2 issues to solve.ġ. So, whenever a log is generated for Power Failure, Power Restored, or even Communication Restored, the system runs the script to shut down. What I'm noticing is that all event viewer logs from PowerPanel have Event ID 2485.
I have Event Viewer logging turned on for the UPS software, and can successfully trigger a shutdown of the ESXi server and VM, BUT I cannot stop it from automatically running the script again when power is restored or a reboot is performed. Eaton software doesn't like talking to my CyberPower UPS (go figure!). I'm using ESXi 6.7 Free and a Windows VM to communicate with my CyberPower UPS.Īnd replaced Eaton with CyberPower PowerPanel Business as far as I could. I'm having an issue setting up my UPS auto-shutdown triggers. Long-time lurker, first-time poster here.
